Friday Kindergarten
Friday Kindergarten is our incredible provision for children aged 3 to 6 years, where we magically blend the Forest School Ethos with the EYFS Framework. Sessions run on the Wild Meadow on Fridays (term time) from 9:00am to 2:00pm. This provision was given a GLOWING Ofsted Inspection Report during our last inspection in May 2023.
At Beccles Forest Schools, we fiercely protect children’s right to play freely, and this is the central principle in our Kindergarten. Children have autonomy over the space and are given the freedom to take risks. Every child is truly cherished for who they are. It’s such a wonderful place for young children to spend their time, spending their day in a totally learner-centred environment, immersed in the natural surroundings of the Wild Meadow, which meets the learning and well-being needs of us all.

Please see below for our latest booking links, where available, and book a taster session when you’re ready. Where we are fully booked, please get in touch to ask about our waiting list.
Location:
The Wild Meadow
Age Group:
3 – 6 years
Our Adventures:
Entering the area through the beautiful split-log gate, you’ll immediately stumble upon rosy-cheeked children elbow-deep in the water tray, filling teapots and pouring them out down a ramp. They watch the water sloshing over a pile of shells that a Beccles Forest Schools Leader has brought in for them to explore. Past them, there will be others making soup in the mud kitchen, fetching ingredients from the reed bed, with a smiling adult watching on. If you take a stroll into the shady grey willows, you’ll be greeted by the muddy wellies of a child mid-swing and hear the excited squealing of others high up in the tree.
Creeping under the branches, you come back out on a path that leads to the Gazebo, around which the whole space centres. It is under here that children can be found exploring the charcoal they made the week previously or sitting making little bird feeders with pine cones.
Peeking inside the Hygge Shed, you’ll see children snuggled amongst pillows reading a story. Bags and lunchboxes are lined up in another shelter, behind which are the composting toilets and an area for a wild wee!
Kindergarten embodies the Forest School Ethos. Children are given autonomy and the freedom to take risks and get messy. We regularly receive feedback about how much children grow in confidence from being with us and we are honoured to be a part of the lives of such an amazing bunch of small humans!
